This is me in one of my more reckless moments, flying in an open cockpit 1936 Stearman bi-plane. I’m in the front seat. The pilot and owner of the Stearman is Al Stix who flys out of Creve Couer airport near Maryland Heights, Missouri – between St. Louis and St. Charles. The airport was formerly known as Dauster Flying Field. The airport has on site the Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum.
What a thrill to fly in this open cockpit aircraft. On take off it seemed to literally jump into the air. When I took this photo below I raised the camera up and the wind almost blew it out of my hands! I lowered the camera just a bit and was able to take some photos. All together, I have 147 photos of these flights and the aircraft around Creve Coeur here. Check out these two short videos i took at Creve Coeur here and here.

On the same day, I flew in this North American SNJ T-6 “Texan”

Creve Coeur Airport has an Historic Aircraft Museum with many restored aircraft.
